Steps 07–08 · Aftercare & review

Aftercare that happens because it is scheduled, not because someone remembered.

Once the treatment record is signed, the aftercare your clinic wrote for that treatment is sent, the check-in is scheduled, and the review visit is offered. When the patient replies, the reply goes to a named person.

R. Osei calls Jordan back about her aftercare question, notes open on the desk.

Where it goes wrong today.

  1. Aftercare is a printout, or a message typed from memory.

Different practitioners send different versions, at different times.

  2. The check-in depends on a quiet moment.

On a busy week, the day-2 message does not go out, and the patient wonders whether anyone cares how they are.

  3. The review visit is booked only if the patient asks.

The after photos that would complete the record are never taken.

The treatment record sets the follow-up in motion.

Your clinic writes aftercare and check-in messages for each treatment type. When the practitioner signs the treatment record, those messages are scheduled for that patient, and the review visit is offered. Every message and reply is kept in the patient’s record.

What goes on the record

  • Which aftercare was sent, its version, and when it was delivered
  • Each check-in and the patient’s reply
  • Who the reply was assigned to, and what they did
  • The review visit, with after photos beside the baseline
  • What the practitioner recorded as next steps

What the patient sees

Aftercare instructions for the treatment they had, from their clinic. A check-in a couple of days later. A simple way to reply that reaches a person, and a reminder of their review visit.

Where the line is

Messages are written or approved by your clinic. ClinicJourney does not assess symptoms, triage replies, or give medical advice. A patient’s reply is routed to a person on your team, who decides what to do.
